Spotify has not been the only app for streaming music for a long time. Consumers in the Netherlands can also use Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, JUKE and Napster. Now a new competitor has joined them: YouTube Music, the successor to Google Play Music.

It is not surprising that Google uses YouTube as a major competitor for apps like Spotify and Apple Music. Users of the service watch a billion hours of videos per day. Will users pay? Google hopes so. They want to achieve this by eliminating user annoyances. Paying users can listen to music without ads, can use WhatsApp while the music continues to play, and can listen to music offline.
