PC City confirms its exit from Spain with the closure of 34 establishments and the online store

Post by asimd17 »

Dixons Retail, owner of the PC City chain of computer stores, has decided to formally begin the process of exiting the Spanish market, due to the progressive fall in consumption, the accumulated losses of the chain and the group's plans to focus its activity on combined computer and electronics stores.

After studying all possible options, the company has adopted this measure, which will entail the closure of all work centres (34 stores and the headquarters) and its online shopping website and will affect its entire workforce, made up of 1,224 employees.

PC City management has informed the workers' representatives of this decision in order to initiate the legal procedures necessary to carry out the mandatory Employment Regulation teacher data File (ERE) which will be submitted to the competent Labour Authority.

Despite this, PC City Spain management is exploring all possible avenues to find solutions that will save as many jobs as possible.

The company also stated that PC City Spain's management team is willing to try to reach the most beneficial agreement possible in negotiations with workers' representatives, despite the difficult situation of PC City Spain in the current economic environment.

The British group stressed that the cessation of PC City's activity will not affect the guarantees and obligations that the company has with its clients, since it ensures compliance with all the services provided for in the service programs.
